We are CQM!! Welcome to the CQM football family. We are extremely pleased that you
have chosen to participate in the CQM football program. We are excited about the
development of the program and look forward to a great season.
History
The CQM Miners are members of the Lebanon Valley Midget Football League. The program
was established in 1968. CQM home games and practices are played at the field across
from the Cornwall Elementary School.
Mission Statement
It is the goal of the CQM organization to provide our players with a healthy and
positive environment to learn and participate in the great game of football. We
are focused on achieving the following objectives:
- Players are here to have fun and enjoy all that the game has to offer.
- Teach the fundamentals of the game – fundamentals that will provide the players
with a solid foundation of skill sets throughout their football careers.
- Football is the ultimate team sport. We will promote achievement of team goals.
We truly believe that our players are brothers.
- Motivate our players to work hard, compete and give 110% on and off the field.
- Build character, integrity and a sense of pride. We believe in teaching values that
will last a lifetime. We want our players to be winners in the game of life.
CQM Miners – 6 Covenants
- We accomplish what we do together. We will look out for each other. We truly believe
that we are brothers.
- We will develop our abilities and take pride in the CQM program. We will set high
standards and work hard to achieve team goals.
- We will respect our team members, parents, coaches, officials and opponents. Good
sportsmanship is expected at all times.
- We are student/athletes and will strive for excellence in the classroom. We will
be disciplined with respect to completing homework assignments before practice.
- We will be unselfish and expect that team members will exhibit this same quality.
We care about each other without expectations.
- We will play for the love of the game and give our absolute best effort at all times.
Player Responsibilities
- Football requires complete dedication and commitment. Players are expected to consistently
attend practice. Please arrive on time for practice and games. Arriving late is
disruptive for teammates and coaches. Missing practice for an unexcused reason will
result in reduced or no playing time in the subsequent game. This is at the discretion
of the head coach.
- Listen to your coaching staff. Each individual practice is a building block for
each player to develop skill sets and accomplish team objectives.
- Accept the coach’s judgment. The coaching staff is responsible for assign players
to their respective offensive and defensive positions.
- Practice good sportsmanship. Being courteous to your coaches, teammates, and opponents
will improve the level of respect you are shown in return. Compete according to
the rules of the game.
Parent Responsibilities
- Review this document with the player. It is important that all players understand
the program and the responsibilities to the team.
- Be patient and supportive. This is the greatest contribution any parent can make.
Parents are the main source for building confidence and self-esteem.
- It is important for each player to attend practice regularly. In the event that
your child is not able to attend a practice or game, please contact the head coach
to discuss. Please understand that unexcused absences will result in reduced or
no playing time in the subsequent game. This is at the discretion of the head coach.
- Every effort should be made to get to practice on time to avoid disruption.
- Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players,
coaches, and officials. Address issues with the coaches in private. Parents should
refrain from being critical of any of the coaches or the team in front of the players
or other parents. Coaches will be available for private conversations with parents
by scheduling an appointment prior to or after practice. Coaches will not be available
for discussion prior to or after a game.
- Get involved. Volunteer. Parents are the key to the success of the program. Please
be generous with your time and support of the program. It is greatly appreciated.
Coaches’ Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce team rules.
- Teach the fundamentals of the game.
- Motivate and encourage our players to do their very best.
- Promote good sportsmanship among your players and mutual respect with fellow coaches.
- Assign players to their respective teams (i.e. Peewee versus Pony) and determine
positions for each player.
- Communicate practice and game schedules to players and their parents.
- Evaluate the skills and abilities of each individual player and determine the playing
time for each player.
